Thousands Protested Roe v. Wade Anniversary Marching for Life

roe v. wade“There is no debate. That entity at the moment of conception is alive and it is genetically human. You were that entity at some point, he was that entity, everybody was that entity. It is a human life." - Former Senator Rick Santorum

Monday, January 24th, marked the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. It was this day the Supreme Court decided to “give” women reproductive freedom of legalized abortions.

But on that day hundreds of thousands of Christians, both adults and youth alike, marched to the Supreme Court to deliver one unified message, “the only choice is life.”

The Alan Guttmacher Institute, who are pro-abortion, reports nearly 50 million abortions have been performed since Roe v. Wade was decided. In 2008 alone there were 1.2 million "legally terminated pregnancies" in the United States. And 93% of all abortions occur for “social reasons” such as a mother’s decision that the child is unwanted or “inconvenient,” Guttmacher reports.

The March for Life protest started at the National Mall where leaders in the pro-life movement pledged to keep fighting for life and to end funding for Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood is the largest provider and promoter of abortion in the United State. There income, in 2007, was $356.9 million, receiving government grants and contracts in excess of $336 million, and total profits over $114 million.

During the rally Representative Mike Pence, said, “A nation that will not stand for life will not stand for long. You know there can be no lasting prosperity without a moral foundation in law. And as to focusing on spending, I agree. Let's start by denying all federal funding for abortion at home and abroad.”

Pro-life Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler continues, “It does my heart good to see so many Missourians standing up for life. My pro-life views were already known to many of the good citizens attending the meeting, but I had the opportunity to tell those who were not familiar with my position that I stand for the protection of innocent lives – both the born and the unborn. I also informed the group of our efforts to de-fund Planned Parenthood, which performs abortions after receiving taxpayer dollars.”

U.S. Sen. David Vitter later spoke about the march adding in, “I’m grateful for the many pro-life Americans from across the country, and especially in Louisiana, who continue to gather to express their sorrow over this ongoing tragedy – and to renew our commitment to building a culture where all people, born and unborn, are guaranteed the right to life.”

Guttmacher says that there are 1,793 abortion “providers” in the United States and the average amount paid for an abortion is $413. Think about it, $413. That’s how much it costs to end an innocent baby’s life.

While this protest was about abortion, to me, it shows much more. It says there are people who not only have the courage to believe as they do but also stand up and say something about it. This government was built upon the foundation of Judeo-Christian values, “we the people, by the people, and for the people.” We must remember that no matter how big the government is Christians must not stop evangelizing and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

One man was able to change the world and that man lives inside you. Just imagine what we could do together.
