Homeschooling Under Fire in New Hampshire
"Trying to sneak through massive changes in the New Hampshire homeschool law by manipulating the system is unacceptable,” says Home School Legal Defense Association staff attorney Mike Donnelly. “The Democratic leadership and the Chairman of the Education Committee know that if they allowed an open process the overwhelming majority would vote Inexpedient to Legislate.”
Opposition is mounting against the Democratic leadership who are using a legislative maneuver to override the recommendations of a bi-partisan legislative study committee who recently voted 14-6 that the proposed new homeschool law (House Bill 368) is "Inexpedient to Legislate (ITL)."
"After studying this issue for several years I've gotten to know homeschoolers, the law, and how the system works and I'm convinced that it is working fine - there are no changes needed. Some people have accused me of doing a 180 on homeschooling - and I would have to admit that's true. But that's because I've seen that homeschooling is working for children in our state and the current law is adequate,” says Democratic Representative Barbara Shaw. Shaw is a retired teacher with 45 years experience and author of the majority report recommending that H.B. 368 is ITL.
Republican Minority Leader Sherman Packard said that his party supports no further changes in the state's homeschooling law: "We've always supported homeschoolers - we aggressively support ITL. Until the end of last week we weren't aware that there was a problem with this legislation since the majority report was ITL."

Teaching U. S. Government Right
Our children should not be taught to “trust and parrot.”
As our children go through life, they will continually interact with government. Under present conditions in the United States, government will confiscate about half of everything they ever earn – through direct taxes on their wages and taxes on the people and institutions with whom they conduct business. Government regulations and bureaucrats will limit their activities in business, recreation, home life, and even in the exercise of their Christian faith. Government may draft them to fight in war. Virtually every newspaper they read will be filled with reports of the actions of federal, state, and local government.
Lessons in religious liberty head back to school
“Students have the liberty to express their faith at school,” says Gateways to Better Education President Eric Buehrer. “One of the most important civics lessons all students should learn is that freedom of religious expression is a fundamental right of all Americans, and, as the U.S. Supreme Court has stated, this freedom does not end at the schoolhouse gate.”
Could HomeSchooling Children Become Illegal?
Education, by the state, is designed to create some knowledge in children. More than that, however, education is designed to create good citizens, wards of the state if you will. We teach conformity, how to line up and move from one place to the other at the ringing of a bell.
Some issues are difficult and require a lot of ground work before the real discussion can begin. To me education is not one of those complicated issues. At least that is true if we look at education the same way as we look at parenting. What is parenting? Parenting is the act of raising a child or children. It is really about distilling our values into our children. It is about taking babies and turning them into mature citizens; in our case, mature Christians who are able to divide the Word correctly.
STOP Homeschooling!
After encouraging this loving dad to pray for wisdom and look up his state’s homeschooling laws at HSLDA (www.hslda.org), I went on to offer a paradigm shift in the way he might be looking at homeschooling.
Advice for Teachers: How to Discipline Without Stress, Punishment or Rewards
The other day, my teenage daughter was eating in a rather slovenly manner, and I lightly tapped her on the wrist saying, “Don’t eat that way.”
My daughter replied, “Don’t abuse me.”
No Child Left Behind
Truthfully, I’m not writing this article from a political agenda. I’m writing, as one who cares deeply about children and the education profession. I’m writing from a position as an insider. I taught in public schools for 20+ years, served as an adjunct professor in Teacher Education, and now I am an educational consultant. I work with private schools and see parents rushing to transfer their children to our school, as if they are fleeing from some monster.
Texas Christian Halts Gay Housing Plan
Texas Christian University (TCU) is doing an about face on the issue of gay student housing. The university had planned to offer new themed housing programs this fall, including apartments for gays and lesbians, and straight students that want to learn more about sexual orientation and gender identity.
What got TCU?s attention? Possibly an outcry from bloggers and conservative media, though TCU Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. insists the national attention did not sway his decision. Rather, he said complaints that themed housing divided rather than united students on campus caused him to reverse course on a move toward what the university calls “new living learning communities.”
“TCU will not launch any new living learning communities at this time. Instead we will assess whether the concept of housing residential students based on themes supports the academic mission of the institution, as well as our objective to provide a total university experience,” Boschini said. “The University will maintain its long-standing commitment to the inclusiveness of all people. To that end, our numerous and diverse support groups will continue to play a vital role on our campus.”
Parents to Protest Pro-Gay Day in Public Schools
The implicit purpose of the Day of Silence is to undermine the belief that homosexuality is immoral. It is the belief of the sponsors of the Walkout that parents should no longer passively accept the political usurpation of taxpayer- funded public school classrooms through student silence.
The United Nations: Our Children's New Parents?
Through its various agencies and treaties, the United Nations seeks to undermine individual, as well as national sovereignty. It has been almost 15 years since President Clinton signed on to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The U.S. remains one of the last holdouts as the treaty lies dormant, yet to be ratified. The UNCRC grants children new civil, social, cultural and economic rights that could override parental decisions. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), is pushing for a vote as there is a real sense that under an Obama presidency, the UNCRC could finally be ratified.
If the UNCRC is ratified, parents could be prohibited from homeschooling and spanking their children. It undermines parental authority and gives more power to the state to further dictate how children are raised. It grants children dangerous new rights thus encouraging more rebellious behavior. The truth is that in many cases, children do not have the wisdom and maturity to make sound decisions. The treaty also gives children the mechanism by which they could dispute any parental judgment. The UNCRC transfers more parental authority to the state while granting children radical new rights.
School Censors Kids for ‘God Bless the USA’ and ‘In God We Trust’
The Wilson County Lakeview Elementary School students -- ages 6 to 10 years old -- invited fellow students to "Come and Pray with Us" in the posters. The posters were hand-drawn by students and their families to announce “See You at the Pole,” a voluntary, student-led prayer event held outside of class time.

Christian Ministries Get Scrutinized Weak on K-12 Christian Education
Chaplain E. Ray Moore founder of The Exodus Mandate, which encourages Christian families to leave government schools to train and teach their children instead in Christian schools or through home education, graded the major Christian ministries and organizations on how effectively they support K-12 Christian education or home schooling.
Nine organizations were rated, many of which have actively engaged in the cultural war in the US for the past several decades.
Protecting Our Children from the Kinsey Science-Based Sex Education in Public Schools
"This research created the entire sex education profession and is still in use today," says Reisman. Her testimony forms the backbone of a new documentary titled, "The Kinsey Syndrome," a film that MOVIEGUIDE calls "one of the most important productions of the 21st century," and that this film should be given to "every judge, every member of Congress, and all the officials in government."
"Our kids are being educated by information based on massive sex crimes against children, and the truth is still being covered up," claims Dr. Reisman.
US K-12 Education out performed by India and China's Education
I had a frightening flash of insight in that first grade classroom – Indian children are better educated, more motivated and more likely to succeed in the 21st century economy than American children. It came from asking a simple le question to a dozen 5 and 6-year old Indian children – “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
